was first presented by the Cockpit Youth Theatre in September 1982 after winning the National Music Theatre competition for that year. The initial production gained rave reviews right through from the communist Morning Star to the right-wing Sunday Telegraph and was a sell-out, standing room only success. In December of that year, City Limits magazine named it as
in the annual Plays and Players critics' awards.
Despite this, the piece has not been seen since, despite some interest from theatres both in the UK and abroad, notably in Vermont USA.
The piece has now been fully rewritten, including new numbers and incorporating some material from
HOMES AND GARDENS, and is available for production.tells the story of the friendship between a theatre-going straight woman and a gay man, through most of the century. The original production was directed by Ian Brown with choreography by Karen Rabinowitz and musical direction by Richard Sissons, now better known as The Widow in the highly successful cabaret duo Kit and the Widow.
"Best thing I've seen for a long time," Jim Hiley on Capital Artbeat.
"The show has everything good theatre should have. Don't miss it!"
The Morning Star.
"A memorable night in the theatre," The Advocate, USA.
